The Brief

Everything worth knowing.

Straight answers, no fluff. Read what applies to your home — skip what doesn't.

Why we don't use soap

Detergents leave a residue that attracts dust faster and can void panel warranties from brands like Trina, Jinko and REC — most manufacturers explicitly say no soap, no abrasives. We run deionised pure water through a filtration unit so it dries completely spot-free, no streaks, no chemical film. Same method used on commercial rooftops across Melbourne's eastern and western suburbs, from Ringwood to Werribee.

Soft brush, water-fed pole, no roof access

Our carbon-fibre brush heads are soft enough not to scratch anti-reflective coatings, and they're mounted on telescopic water-fed poles so our techs work from the ground or a ladder — not from on top of your panels. Foot traffic on glass causes microcracks you can't see but that show up months later as a drop in output. If your roof pitch genuinely needs roof access, we use fall-arrest gear and walk only on rails, never on the cells themselves.

Free visual inspection with every clean

Before we touch a panel we walk the array visually checking for cracked glass, corroded junction boxes, loose racking, and signs of hot spots or bird nesting under the frames. We'll also glance at your inverter display or Enphase/SolarEdge app if you've got one, and flag anything that looks like an underperforming string. You get a short write-up, not just a hose-down.

Getting your output back

Dust, pollen and bird droppings can cut panel output by 10 to 25% in Melbourne's dry months, more if you're near Tullamarine flight paths, industrial estates in Dandenong, or under gum trees dropping sap. Bird droppings are the worst offender — they create hot spots that shade cells and force the panel to work harder, degrading it faster. A proper clean typically has your system back producing within its rated range the same day.

How often you actually need it

Most Melbourne homes do fine with an annual clean. If you're near the coast (salt haze in Frankston or Altona), under trees, near a busy road, or have a low pitch that doesn't self-clean in the rain, we'd recommend semi-annual — spring and autumn. Commercial rooftop systems and rural properties near cropping or dusty roads usually need it every 6 months regardless.

Fully insured, every job

We carry public liability and, where roof access is required, height safety cover. Working at height on someone's roof with water and electrical equipment nearby isn't something to leave to a bloke with a squeegee and no policy — ask any provider for their certificate of currency before they get on your roof.

What it costs

Pricing depends on panel count, roof pitch and access — a standard 6.6kW residential system (around 16 to 20 panels) is usually a fixed-price job, quoted upfront with no surprises. Commercial and agricultural arrays are quoted per panel after a site look. We don't charge extra for the inspection — it's built into every clean.

Servicing all of Melbourne

We cover the metro area and outer suburbs — eastern suburbs (Box Hill, Ringwood), the west (Werribee, Point Cook), Mornington Peninsula, and northern growth corridors like Craigieburn and Epping. If you're on a rural property with a ground-mounted array or a large shed roof, we handle those too.

Solar Panel Cleaning FAQ

Answers before you ask.

Will cleaning my solar panels void the warranty?+

No — it's the opposite risk you need to watch. Manufacturers like Trina, Jinko, REC and LG generally require no soap, no abrasive brushes and no high-pressure water on the glass. We use pure water and a soft carbon-fibre brush specifically because it meets those warranty conditions. Ask your provider what they use before you book.

Do you walk on the roof to clean the panels?+

Only if there's no other safe option, and never on the panels themselves. We use water-fed poles from the ground or gutter line for most jobs, which avoids foot traffic on the glass entirely. Walking on panels is one of the leading causes of microcracks — no visible damage, but real drops in output over the following year.

How much extra power will I get after a clean?+

Typically a 10 to 25% output recovery depending on how dirty the panels were and how long it's been. Bird droppings cause the biggest single-panel losses because they create shaded hot spots. We'll check your inverter or monitoring app before and after so you can see the difference.

How often should I get my panels cleaned in Melbourne?+

Once a year for most homes. Twice a year if you're near the coast, under trees, near a busy road or flight path, or on a low-pitch roof that doesn't get a good self-rinse from rain. Commercial and rural systems usually need a 6-monthly schedule.

What's included in the free inspection?+

A visual check of the glass for cracks, the frames and racking for corrosion or looseness, junction boxes for water ingress, and a look at your monitoring app or inverter display for any string that's underperforming. Included with every clean at no extra charge.

Are you insured to work on my roof?+

Yes — we carry full public liability insurance for any job requiring roof access. Happy to send a certificate of currency before the job if you'd like to see it.

Do you use soap or chemicals?+

No. We use deionised, pure water only, run through an on-truck filtration system. It dries without spots or streaks and won't leave a residue that attracts more dust — and it keeps your panel warranty intact.
